The man was on his way home to Raub when he was waylaid by five men who shot him at close range, reported the New Straits Times today.

“The victim was driving a Toyota Hilux when he was attacked by the men, who were in a Proton Wira,” Lipis district police chief Superintendent Azry Akmar Ayob said.

He said police were investigating the shooting and would get a statement from the victim as soon as he was able to provide it.

“We will also get statements from witnesses of the incident, and get clues from the scene,” NST quoted Azry as saying.

The police chief said the motive of the shooting was still under investigation, and that a forensic unit had been called in to assist as well as collect fingerprints and bullet casings at the site of the shooting.

Azry said the matter was being investigated under Section 3 of the Firearms Act and Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.

He said the victim was first rushed to a clinic in Sungai Koyan by members of the public and was currently warded at the Kuala Lipis Hospital.
