Firemen rescue man trapped in deep drain hole
MIRI: Firemen had to squeeze themselves into a narrow and deep drain hole here to rescue a trapped senior citizen.
The man, in his 60s, fell into the hole which is about 10 feet deep in front of a petrol station along the Miri-Pujut road at about 7am Sunday (Feb 4).
The cover of the drain hole was believed to have been stolen.
The man was believed to be on a morning stroll when he fell into the drain hole.
Firemen managed to squeeze into the confined space and secured him onto a stretcher.
They eventually found an outlet that connects to a monsoon drain and pulled him out, said M iri Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Law Poh Kiong.
The injured man was taken to the Miri Hospital by ambulance.
Firemen had to pull the man out via a monsoon drain.
