Ku Nan denies saying fake news being spread in churches
PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has denied saying that some had been using churches to spread fake news and lies about the Government, clarifying that his advice was intended for all religious places of worship.
"I did not say that the church is a place to spread slander. I only reminded all religious places of worship to carry on with their religious activities and not to become a centre to spread fake news that could arouse discontent against the Government," said the Federal Territories Minister.
"Whatever news that is being discussed in rel igious places of worship should be verified so it will not be slanderous," he said in a statement Saturday (Feb 3).
Tengku Adnan said that in the past, he himself had fought for the construction of a new church to be built on a plot of land in Kampung Pandan Indah, Kuala Lumpur.
"I only referred to churches as an example because my message is to all places of worship, including mosques, surau and temples," he added.
An online news portal had reported that Tengku Adnan gave the warning during a community programme in Kuala Lumpur earlier Saturday.Related NewsSource: Google News
