MACC lodges report over threat against senior officer

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) says it will not bow to pressure after a threatening note and a live bullet were sent to the home of one of its senior officers.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki said on Monday (April 16) that a police report has been lodged over the matter.

"The MACC urged the police to investigate the case and to identify the culprit so that appropriate action can be taken in accordance with the law," he said in a statement issued Monday (April 16).

Azam said the MACC believes the threat came following the investigation of several high-profile cases by the Commission recently.

"We want to stress that the MACC will not bow down to such threats and we will carry out our duties without fear."

Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor confirmed that t wo police reports were lodged over the incident.

“We have set up a task force to investigate the matter,” he said when contacted on Monday.
