Its chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said Napsiah was a female warrior of no equal.
âThe result s of her decades of struggle are felt by all women and the whole nation. Her legacy of unity has become the strong bond that unites us, the 1.4 million members of Wanita Umno.
âAs an experienced icon of Wanita Umno, her demise now leaves a space that is difficult to fill,â she said in a statement today.
Shahrizat also admitted that Napsiahâs death impacted her personally as the latter had always been the person she would refer to and seek advice from to continue advancing in politics.
âPersonally, I feel like Iâve just lost a sister who I respected and loved the most,â she said.
Napsiah, who was Kuala Pilah Member of Parliament (MP) for five terms (1986-2004), breathed her last at 6.10pm at her sonâs house in Ampang Jaya, near here today after losing her battle against liver cancer.
She was 74.
Meanwhile, Puteri Umno Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin expressed sympathy and extended her condolences to Napsiahâs family o n her passing.
The death of the prominent female warrior, who was crowned the âTokoh Melayu Terbilangâ Award at Umnoâs 71st anniversary celebration in May 2017, is a huge loss to the country, she said.
âShe was firm and steadfast in championing and uplifting women in Malaysia in the 1990s,â Mas Ermieyati said in a statement today.
Wanita Umno executive councillor Datuk Jamelah A. Bakar also described Napsiah as a great female leader whose death was a huge loss to the movement.
âShe hid her illness to continue discharging her duties and responsibilities,â she said.
Napsiahâs remains are expected to be laid to rest at Jalan Melang Muslim cemetery, Kuala Pilah before Zohor prayer tomorrow. â" BernamaSource: Google News
