Johor MCA candidates list announced at packed rally

YONG PENG: The normally placid Fortune Dragon Tunnel tourist attraction here was abuzz tonight as people came from all over Johor to atte nd Johor MCAâs "Anti-Elimination Rallyâ.
The Che Ann Khor society's hall was quickly filled up to capacity, while outside, the traffic queue stretched for 1.5km.
The event saw MCA President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai announcing the Johor MCA candidates for eight parliament and 15 state seats in a packed hall (see list below). .
Liow praised Johor MCAâs candidates, saying it had many professionals who were willing to sacrifice for the country and its citizens.
âThis is the first state that we have announced all the MCA candidates, as the opposition is going to attack us, why shouldnât we be prepared?
âWe have high party spirits, this time, we will be take on the challenge, and weâll come through,â said Liow.
In his speech, MCA Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong exhorted party members to support and show faith in the partyâs leadership.
This included actions such as liking and sharing good news by the partyâs leaders on social media, as well encouraging those around them to cast their vote for MCA in the coming elections.
Wee also criticised DAP challenger Liew Chin Tong for changing electoral districts like shirts.
âFrom Penang, heâs come down to Kluang, now heâs going to Ayer Hitam,â Wee remarked.
The Ayer Hitam incumbent also criticised what he said was DAPâs culture of eliminating people with talent.
âThey talk about eliminating MCA, and they keep talking and talking until they canât find people to contest even in Labis.
âThey eliminated Dr Boo Cheng Hau, the former state chairman, a Foochow man from Yong Peng,â said Wee.
Wee added that although Liew had proposed a debate between the two of them, the deputy president said that it was better to carry out actions, rather than debate.
On the issue of the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary seat, Liow said discussions with Umno were still ongoing.
â Iâve told the Bandar Tun Razak MCA division that seat swaps would be conducted at Barisanâs highest levels, before any announcement is made,â said Liow.
