Official: Wan Azizah moves to Pandan, Nurul goes to Permatang Pauh
GE14 | After much drama, PKR has released its official candidates' list for the coming general election this afternoon.
The list confirmed that PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be contesting in Pandan while her daughter Nurul Izzah will move to Permatang Pauh.
Pandan's current incumbent is PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, who will not be contesting because of his conviction.
Nurul, who is the incumbent two-term Lembah Pantai lawmaker, will replace her mother in Permatang Pauh, a seat which has been in her family for decades.
Her father and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim first won the seat in the 1982 general election.
Four PKR leaders will be fielded for both parliamentary and state seats:
- Deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali - Gombak (parliament); Bukit Antarabangsa (state)
- PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasuti on - Kulim Bandar Bharu; Pantai Jerejak
- Johari Abdul - Sungai Petani; Gurun
- Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin - Hang Tuah Jaya; Rembia
Meanwhile, PKR will relocate Rashid Hasnon, the caretaker Penang deputy chief minister, to contest in Batu Pahat, making him the most prominent party leader in the state.
Another big name to appear in PKR's list for Johor is Masterskill Education Group founder Edmund Santhara, who has been tasked with taking on MIC president Dr S Subramaniam for the Segamat parliamentary seat.
PKR's candidates for Sabah and Sarawak were not contained in the list.Source: Google News
