Restaurant in Bangsar goes from murky water to hot water
KUALA LUMPUR: An uproar sparked by a video showing the workers of a banana leaf rice restaurant in Bangsar washing dishes in a puddle of murky water has forced it to close its doors until further notice.
The eatery may continue to be in hot water as the Kuala Lumpur City Council could issue a closure notice after its health inspectors visit the premises today.
The 30-second video shows three of its staff members squatting at the back of the restaurant, scrubbing and rinsing plates in what appears to be a puddle of water in a pothole.
The video, which made the rounds yesterday, has since garnered more than 270,000 views and 6,800 shares.
Social media users have slammed the restaurant, with many expressing disgust and disbelief.
Later, Rajâs Banana Leaf restaurant issued an apology on Facebook, claiming that the dishes were washed by newly recruited employees at its Bangsar outlet.
âThis has never happened before and should not have happened.
âWe also want to assure (the public) that Rajâs Banana Leaf consistently passes the health inspection conducted regularly,â it said.
It said it will continue to monitor the restaurantâs hygiene and take strict action against the staff involved.
âWe truly understand your concerns. However, I hope you will still give us a chance to serve you in the future,â the Facebook posting reads.Related NewsSource: Google News
